In the eyes of Pressley Ridge, all of our Foster Parents are SUPER but on October 2, 2013 in Charleston, West Virginia Pressley Ridge had the true pleasure to name one of our own “SUPERHERO” and celebrated accordingly. WV TFC Foster Parent Ms. Sandra Pinckney was nominated and chosen by Executive Director Angie Hamilton and the WV State Team to be honored at the WV Child Care Association’s “SUPERHEROS UNITE FOR WV KIDS AT RISK” luncheon. WVCCA’s member leadership were asked to choose an individual within their perspective organizations that had earned the title SUPERHERO and complete a summary explaining why to be presented at the event in honor of their chosen HERO. Ms. Pinckney was honored alongside many other SUPERHEROS from WVCCA member organizations as well as the Community Award winner, Ms. Cora Childers, the WV Champion of Children Award winner, WV Senator Donald H. Cookman and the Steward of Unity Award winner, the Honorable Gary L. Johnson.

Angie Hamilton, Executive Director of WV said, “When I received the charge to nominate someone from Pressley Ridge to receive this honor, Ms. Pinckney immediately came to mind. She exemplifies all of the characteristics that you are proud of and grateful for because you know the youth in her home are going to receive lasting impact. You know that youth are going to thrive under her care.”

Ms. Sandra Pinckney has been a treatment foster parent with Pressley Ridge for over 10 years providing therapeutic treatment, mentoring, coaching and care to over 27 youth in these years. Ms. Pinckney has provided forever families to 5 youth (including siblings) through adoption and legal guardianship and has established permanent connections to many more. For her unwaivering dedication to the WV youth that she has served and for those lives she is yet to touch in the future- she is our SUPERHERO and we are proud to honor her. Ms. Pinkney is a TFC parent in the WV Region IV program under the leadership of Program Director Tanya Ford.
