Pressley Ridge to merge with Central Pennsylvania nonprofit organization
PITTSBURGH, PA – Pressley Ridge, an international nonprofit organization serving troubled children and families, announced plans today to merge with a nonprofit organization in Central Pennsylvania that offers similar services.
Pressley Ridge plans to join with Family & Children Services (F&CS) of Central Pennsylvania, a regional provider of programs for children and families in Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Juniata, Lancaster, Perry and York counties. F&CS provides programs including adoption, outpatient therapy, parenting education and in-home services to more than 2,000 children, adults and families each day.

"It’s important that Pressley Ridge continuously seek opportunities to provide cost-effective quality services to more children and families while increasing our economies of scale and avoiding duplication of services. Our merger with Family & Children Services accomplishes these goals as well as others.”
Pressley Ridge serves troubled children and families in eight states and the District of Columbia, as well as Hungary and Portugal. Pressley Ridge provides residential treatment, education services, treatment foster care and community-based programs to 4,000 children and families each year.
For F&CS, the merger means more opportunity for clients and staff, said Scott Spangler, the organization’s president and CEO. “This merger will help ensure the future viability of our work. It will create greater financial and organizational stability, more effective and efficient services, and new and expanded programs for our clients andour community.”
The organizations, once combined, will operate under the Pressley Ridge name with an annual budget of approximately $70 million and more than 1,200 employees. Funding for the programs will come from a variety of sources, including fee-for-service, grants, governmental contracts and local United Ways.
