PITTSBURGH—Meg Bernard has been appointed director of development for Pressley Ridge. Bernard will be responsible for the day-to-day planning, implementation and coordination of a multi-faceted development effort that includes annual giving, capital giving, major gifts, special events, and grantsmanship.
“I am thrilled to be working with such an organization as venerable as Pressley Ridge,” said Bernard. “The organization’s 175-year legacy of helping troubled children find joy in life is unparalleled. A lot of people don’t know the reach Pressley Ridge has – we operate in 8 states, two foreign counties, and we provide services to over 4,000 children and family members a year. I am eager to work with the talented team to promote Pressley Ridge’s amazing story to our communities and expand our base of dedicated supporters – ensuring that Pressley Ridge will be here for many future generations of children.
Bernard has more than 25 years of fundraising experience. Most recently, she served as director of development of the August Wilson Center for African American Culture. While there, she raised more than $15 million dollars for capital and annual support over a two-year period, and oversaw a volunteer corps of more than 50 individuals. In addition to her work with the August Wilson Center, Bernard held positions at Carnegie Museum of Art, the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust and Shady Side Academy.
Bernard holds a bachelor of arts in art history from Connecticut College. She serves on the board of directors of the Animal Rescue League of Western Pennsylvania, and has served on the boards of Carriage House Children’s Center and the Silver Eye Center for Photography.
A resident of Squirrel Hill, she is the mother of a 15-year-old daughter.
