175th Anniversary Event: “A Glistening Celebration”

Pressley Ridge will concluded its year-long celebrations with a 175th Anniversary Gala featuring ice skating demonstrations, exciting guest appearances, moonlight dancing, delectable dining, and many other special surprises.

Celebrating 175 years of services to children and families

What: 175th Anniversary Dinner

Where: Duquesne Club, Pittsburgh, PA

Pressley Ridge’s Board of Directors hosted a 175th Anniversary Dinner to honor past and present members of the Board of Directors, Foundation Board, Event Boards, and their families.  It was an opportunity to recognize the volunteers whose leadership established Pressley Ridge as one of this nation’s most respected providers of compassionate care for troubled youth. Following dinner, anniversary co-chairs Emily Jarrett and Marguerite Jarrett Marks encouraged reminiscences about memorable moments in Pressley Ridge history.

What: 175th Anniversary Celebration and Sculpture Dedication

When: April 17, 2007

Where: Pressley Ridge, 530 Marshall Avenue, North Side, 15214

Pressley Ridge is hosted a “birthday party” in celebration of providing 175 years of services to children and families on Tuesday, April 17 at its Marshall Avenue Campus located on Pittsburgh’s North Side. Children, families, and employees will played traditional party games and enjoyed cake and ice cream.  (Click hereto view a short video clip of the Marshall Avenue celebration)
           
In addition, a dedication was held at 10 a.m. where Pressley Ridge unveiled a 600 pound bronze sculpture honoring past, present and future employees.  The sculpture is full size and depicts a teacher sitting on a bench, gently holding and reading a book to a child.

More than 3,500 people celebrated Pressley Ridge’s anniversary on April 17.  Activities and celebrations were held at all Pressley Ridge sites in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland, Delaware, West Virginia, Virginia, Kentucky, Texas, Washington, D.C., Hungary and Portugal.
