
Dr. Melnick joined Pressley Ridge in February 2006 as the corporate medical director. In addition to providing direct clinical service, Dr. Melnick chairs the medical services committee which oversees medical and psychiatric services across Pressley Ridge. He provides leadership to physicians and nurses and the performance improvement process of medical and psychiatric practices.
Before joining Pressley Ridge, Dr. Melnick served as medical director of The Bradley Center residential treatment facility. Prior to Bradley, he was medical director of the St. Francis Medical Center adolescent and children’s psychiatric inpatient units. He sees coming to Pressley Ridge as a natural progression from hospital to residential treatment to the full array of community based, treatment foster care, educational and residential services that Pressley Ridge provides.
Dr. Melnick is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and a Fellow of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. He is an officer of the Pennsylvania Psychiatric Society and is chair of its disaster psychiatry committee.
Dr. Melnick is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Drexel University College of Medicine and a Clinical Instructor in Psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He teaches and supervisors residents from Allegheny General Hospital and Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic for the Pittsburgh Coalition for Dynamic Psychotherapy of the Pittsburgh Psychoanalytic Foundation.
Dr. Melnick earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Drexel University. He completed his internship, psychiatric residency and child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh medical center.
