Announcing the opening of the Pressley Ridge Career Development Center

We are excited to announce that the Pressley Ridge Career Development Center is open this school year!
Our first day of school was August 30th, 2012. As a sister program to the Day School Pittsburgh, the Pressley Ridge Career Development Center (CDC) is an Approved Private School (APS) and Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) that provides intensive career, educational, and therapeutic services to children with Serious Emotional Disturbance (SED).
Our goal is for these services to help students increase their technical skills, adjust to the community, and to become prepared for adulthood by developing life skills and providing hands-on learning opportunities. We have the opportunity to serve 24 students full time at the center.
The students currently at the CDC are excited about this new opportunity and have had a great start to the school year! They are very busy not only with all of their core academic classes, but the students are also enjoying new elective courses.
The courses being offered this semester include: Office Technology 1, Office Technology 2, Graphic Design, Technology Exploration, Finance, Fashion Design, Child Development, Hospitality/Restaurant Service, and Hospitality/Hotel Service.
The students have also done a great job of welcoming and engaging with guest speakers who have devoted time to the center to help the students try to identify what type of career path they would like to take in the near future.
As we continue to develop programming at the Career Development Center, students from other Pressley Ridge schools will be able to take elective classes in the future.
