Opportunity Fund

Most of the children and families who come to Pressley Ridge for help can't afford it. The type and duration of their treatment is determined and paid for by government agencies, which reimburse organizations like Pressley Ridge. But a youth who needs daily counseling sessions, and is only "approved" for weekly ones, cannot put off his problems for a full six days.

The Opportunity Fund at Pressley Ridge makes sure kids get the quality, and quantity of care they need without delay, regardless of the reimbursement that is coming to cover our costs for great teachers and facilities. Each year Pressley Ridge provides $1 million in these kinds of non-reimbursed services so that children and families in crisis get the immediate intervention they need.

  • $50 pays the out-of-pocket costs of Janine's medication for one month - costs her insurance won't cover.
  • $75 buys Marcus a new pair of glasses that insurance won't cover. He can read the blackboard and complete his assignments.
  • $100 helps Jon's treatment foster parents pay for a week at summer camp.
  • $300 gives Dionne three more counseling sessions per month than the state is willing to pay for, helping her break through her silence and tearfully describe her mother's illness.

Contributions to The Opportunity Fund are allocated among all the programs operated by Pressley Ridge, and placed where they can be most beneficial and help the children who are most in need. Your donation to The Opportunity Funds helps improve services in all seven states, and the District of Columbia, where we deliver services.
