Program Highlight: Pressley Ridge Community-based Services
The Pressley Ridge Community-based Services provides intensive, short-term, community-based services to children and adolescents with mental health problems.

The ultimate goal of Community-based services is to prevent psychiatric hospitalization or out-of-home placement of a child or an adolescent with emotional disturbances.

Population Profile
Most of the children receiving services are adolescents between the ages of 13 and 17 years. Virtually all of these children are referred for behavioral, family and interpersonal problems. Many also have school problems and criminal behaviors.

Community-based services are:

  • strength-based and family focused;
  • delivered in the family's home community;
  • intensive and short-term; and
  • focused on empowering families and linking them with community resources.
