Pressley Ridge West Virginia has been serving kids and families since 1984 when the Laurel Park residential facility was opened. In 1985, PRYDE opened in Beckley making it the state's first therapeutic foster care program. This was followed by Grant Gardens in 1990, and sites in Logan, Charleston, Princeton and Parkersburg.

Today, Pressley Ridge is the largest provider of residential, community-based and treatment foster care services to children and families in West Virginia, serving approximately 400 kids each day. Offices are located in Clarksburg, Morgantown, Crab Orchard, Ona, ans Walker.

Program Highlight - Grant Gardens
In July of 1990, Pressley Ridge at Grant Gardens opened in Ona, WV, to provide residential services to 20 status offender youth between the ages of 13 and 17. In January of 2002, Grant Gardens expanded its program to include an additional 20 students. This expansion also included the construction of two new state of the art, 20-bed living facilities for students and renovation of the existing administration building, thus allowing the Grant Gardens program to serve 40 children total.

Objectives
Grant Gardens provides Level II and Level III residential treatment services to youth in West Virginia. The overall purpose of Pressley Ridge at Grant Gardens is to provide relatively short term residential treatment services to troubled children which will enable them to function more successfully in their communities and return to a less restrictive living environment, preferably with family.

Population Profile
Grant Gardens provides residential treatment services to 40 youth (20 male, 20 female) ages 13 to 17 with serious emotional as well as behavioral problems that meet Level II and Level III criteria. All youth admitted to the program must be in the custody of the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources and court ordered for placement.

Hours of Operation
The Grant Gardens program operates year round 24 hours a day.
