Pressley Ridge School for Autism Launches Rock The Spectrum Store
Rock the Spectrum is a business venture that was created as an auxiliary program of the Pressley Ridge School for Autism. One of our key areas is our pre-vocational skills development curriculum, which has led to the establishment of four areas of services and products: Memorial Florals, Pet Center, Pressley Printing, and Art World. All of our products are made by our students. When you purchase one of our products or services, you are giving a student with autism a chance to demonstrate that they can create, produce, and provide a valuable service and commodity to the community. The goal of Rock the Spectrum is to prepare students with social and behavioral challenges to become contributing members of society.
Autism is a life-long disability that affects as many as 1 in every 88 people (CDC, 2012). Children with autism generally have developmental difficulties in three crucial areas: social interaction, language and behavior.
Pressley Ridge School for Autism is a licensed private academic school that provides individualized and therapeutic educational services to children and youth on the autism spectrum. Part of our program includes preparing our youth for career opportunities and providing a secure foundation for transition from school-to-work. We are an outcomes-oriented program that takes pride in creating vocational opportunities based on individual preferences. It is through our consistent and explicit teaching of work-related skills that our students will acquire the skills they need to become contributing and successful members of society. Pressley Ridge School for Autism is dedicated to preparing our students for work in the 21st century.
