Level III Residential Treatment Programs

Youth referred and accepted into Pressley Ridge Level III programs are experiencing severe, more intensive levels of behavioral, emotional, and traumatic experiences that prohibit them from being able to successfully remain in their home, education and/or community environment. These youth have typically not been successful in other higher, more restrictive levels of care, and are at higher risk for referral to more secured facilities such as detention or hospital settings.

Criteria for Level III Residential Treatment (Severe Intensity):

  • Mental Health Diagnosis
  • IQ of 70 or Greater
  • Higher/More Intensive level of past trauma response (whether trauma is confirmed or suspected)
  • Higher Level/More Intensive level of Defiance-Verbal/Physical Aggression/Disruptive Behavior in Home/Community and/or School Setting
  • Higher Level/More Intensive level of Disrespect/Disregard for Adults/Authority/Rules/Boundaries Limited to no Success Attending a Public School Setting Due to Behavior/Emotional Issues
  • In Need of Specialized Educational Planning or Educational Provisions
  • Higher/More Serious/Intensive Level of Involvement with Legal System (youth could be “one step away” from a more secure facility-Detention)
  • Higher level of and more intensive issues with behaviors that are risky/impulsive such as run away, destruction of property, promiscuity placing youth at immediate risk
  • Assessment Score Indicative of the Need for a Higher Level of Care (such as a CAFAS Score of 80 or above on 5 scale)
  • Multiple Failed Placements/Limited to No Success in Other Residential Placements
  • May Have Past History of Self-Injurious Behaviors/Suicidal Thoughts/Ideations/Fire Setting (per assessment of CURRENT level of functioning/risk)

Residential Specialized Treatment Programs

Youth referred and accepted into Pressley Ridge Specialized Residential care are highly intensive with specific individualized needs requiring specialized programming. These youth have severe, highly intensive levels of behavioral, emotional, and traumatic experiences that prohibit them from being able to successfully remain in their home, education, and/or community environment. These youth require a level of care that provides a higher level of supervision and individualized treatment to meet needs. Youth referred and accepted into this program are at high risk for more secure placement environments, such as detention centers and hospital settings. Youth are at imminent risk for more restrictive or out-of-state care, or are in need of this level of care as they are returning to the state from an out-of-state treatment program.

Criteria for Specialized Residential Treatment (Severe/Highly Intensive)

  • CAFAS Score of 140 or greater (entry)
  • FS-IQ of 70 (plus) Note: Youth falling slightly under this range may be considered by interview process
  • Experienced sexual exploitation and exhibiting sexually reactive behaviors
  • Demonstrates inappropriate behaviors as coping mechanisms (Severe/Intensive)
  • History of runaway behavior or plausible planning of runaway
  • Behavioral issues related to substance use disorder (not in active withdrawal) or unsuccessful remaining substance free post residential treatment
  • Unable to attend public school due to behaviors endangering others despite special education intervention

Axis 1 Youth

Pressley Ridge Home Places is a treatment program for children and adolescents with developmental disabilities and mental health diagnoses.

Criteria for Axis 1 Care:

  • Males and Females, 21 years and younger
  • Youth diagnosed with an Axis 1, including Autism Spectrum Disorder and Pervasive Developmental Disorder
  • Youth diagnosed with a Developmental Disability, including mild to severe Mental Retardation
  • Youth experiencing co-occurring medical and/or neurological disorders
  • Youth experiencing behavioral problems, including self-injurious behavior and severe aggression
