Residential
Pressley Ridge offers a range of residential services for children and youths
with mental health, and/or delinquency issues. The specific problems these children face may vary. When therapeutic placement outside of their home and school
settings is deemed necessary, Pressley Ridge residential services are available in a variety of settings.
The ultimate goal of residential services is to help these troubled children and
their families learn the skills that will enable them to return home to their
communities successfully.
Residential Model Principles
-
Physical, emotional, and psychological safety is imperative to meeting the
needs of the child in residential care. Our environment is one where the
opinions, feelings, and beliefs of the children are not only listened to, but
acted upon so that they are empowered to have choices in all aspects of their
treatment.
-
We believe in the primacy of the Teacher/Counselor. The Teacher/Counselor is
the treatment professional who is the change agent in a child's life while in
residential care.
-
We serve young people with intensive needs who engage in troubling behaviors.
Treatment programs are individualized based on a behavioral assessment and
resources are allocated to meet the needs of highly challenging youth.
-
Treatment is a process of calling forth competencies. All programs provide
treatment that is individualized, strength based, respectful and delivered with
dignity.
-
The Group is important to the young person. Groups at Pressley Ridge are
designed and developed to provide structure, stability and therapeutic support
in order to enhance the growth and adjustment of their members .Therapeutic
games and activities appropriate to the interest and skill level of the
residents are key elements of Pressley Ridge's treatment program.
-
We honor familial relationships. The ultimate goal of residential services is
to help these troubled children and their families learn the skills that will
enable children to return home successfully. Pressley Ridge encourages family
support and participation in all phases of treatment.
-
Our programs succeed when our kids and families succeed. We must constantly
assess and reassess aspects of our programming in order to provide a continuum
of quality care.We recognize that what constitutes success for one young person
does not necessarily constitute success for another.
