Treatment Foster Care

Pressley Ridge Treatment Foster Care is committed to the safety and well-being of troubled children. Our nationally recognized program of treatment foster care can be a life-changing alternative to residential care programs. We work to:

  • Create a sense of belonging for children within the homes of professionally trained treatment parents;
  • Adjust treatment services to meet the children's needs, allowing them to remain in the same family setting as they work to overcome their problems;
  • Give children the stability they need so they can begin to learn;
  • Help children thrive with intensive, individualized treatment within a safe, supportive, family-centered environment.

Permanence in a safe environment is the goal for every child By teaching families how to remain stable and manage everyday problems, we help reunite children with their biological parents. If a child cannot return home, he or she can still have a stable, positive environment and supportive family relationships while progressing toward a permanent arrangement of adoption or independent living.

  • Treatment foster families help children establish healthy values and adaptive skills they can use when they return to their communities.
  • Treatment families are specifically trained to manage very challenging behaviors.They receive the support they need to maintain placements through difficult times.

Our goal is to be the last placement service the child will need-the last stop on the journey toward permanence.

The most troubled youth can succeed with intensive treatment Pressley Ridge takes the most difficult children, many of whom have:

  • Serious emotional and behavioral problems;
  • Patterns of running away and truancy;
  • Learning and developmental disabilities;
  • History of family disruption, neglect and, in some cases, abuse; and
  • History of multiple failed placements.

For a variety of reasons, these children can no longer live with their own families. Caseworkers often turn to Pressley Ridge with the children who are hardest to place because they know we persist in reaching through to even the toughest children.

Treatment parents are the primary counselors for the children in their care The integrity of the treatment foster parent model has been essential to the success of Treatment Foster Care at Pressley Ridge. All treatment parents:

  • Receive 40 hours of specialized, competency-based training before a child is ever placed in their home;
  • Continue training sessions, including crisis training, monthly;
  • Are supervised by clinical staff to serve on the frontlines of behavioral change;
  • Are the primary change agents in the child's life.
