Mission
Activities
The Institute has four major areas of activity. The first three are service areas - training, consulting, and applied research. The fourth area is geographic - international, or services performed outside the United States.
Training Institute training services are of two types, clinical training and leadership training. Clinical training is for staff members who work directly with children and families. The intention of this training is to give them the competencies required to provide effective treatment to children who have mental, behavioral, or developmental disabilities. Leadership training is for those individuals who have managerial responsibilities and who provide leadership to their organization. These services are delivered through classes and seminars held at our site or the client organization's site.
Consulting Institute consulting services include follow-up to our clinical and leadership training, and consulting on organizational improvement. Clients who want additional assistance with clinical or leadership issues that come up during training can have our staff continue to work with them back in their organizations.
Research This Institute service teaches organizations how to determine the outcome of their clinical treatment program by measuring the changes over time in their client population and the outcomes of their treatment programs. This includes coaching on how to set up indicators, interim measures, and advice on research instruments.
International Our International
activities include making all of the above services
available outside the United States. We usually
start with training and consultation on clinical
treatment and leadership/management issues. The
next step is to add research on outcomes, which
we like to do as early in the process as possible.
Our International work also includes working
with in-country organizations such as Non-Government
Organizations (NGOs), government agencies, and
the International charitable community in introducing
services for children around the world. We currently
have a training center in Portugal and we are
in the process of establishing similar centers
in Hungary and the Ukraine.
