Frequently Asked Questions About Working with Child Services

Does the child need to have Child Services involvement?

  • Yes. To receive supports, Child Services requires kinship homes to be licensed similar to foster care.
  • Pressley Ridge will help you navigate the system and advocate for your family.

What Will I Need to Do?

  • Meet with Pressley Ridge staff in your home to complete the Home Study certification process required by the state.
  • Complete state-required training. Pressley Ridge offers in-person, on-line, and self-study resources to fit your schedule.

What Happens After I’m Licensed?

  • You’ll continue caring for the child in your home.
  • Pressley Ridge will help keep your certification up to date.
  • Pressley Ridge staff will visit you and the child to offer support and help with any needs.
